Assault Trooper is a basic, common, and cheap offensive mid- to close-ranged strategy (or simply put, a role) available in MiniTroopers essentially from the start. All you need to do is give the Trooper a gun with a corresponding range, and there you go. Assault troopers are your common grunts you deploy en masse and hope they run over the enemy.
They can also be considered a default state, from which you can upgrade them to other Roles. And such, being initially remotely effective, with proper upgrading they achieve great results even without switching to a specialized strategy.
